A good alternative is the old Chow favorite recipe CHEX mix is just as easy, but gives you a salt instead of a sweet treat.

Ingredients:

Half cup of peanut butter
Quarter cup of butter
One cup of chocolate chips
Half teaspoon Vanilla
Nine cups of Crispix cereal (any flavor)
One and half cup of powdered sugar

Instructions:

Mix peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips in a bowl in microwave safe.
Microwave for 1 minute then stir to mix all ingredients. Add half teaspoon of vanilla pwder in it. Stir well.
Place 9 cups Crispix cereal in a large bowl.
Pour the peanut butter-chocolate over cereal mixture and mix evenly, making sure all the grains get good coverage.
Coat with powdered sugar, so as to cover each piece with it.
